The popular television series NCIS, which focuses on the Naval
Criminal Investigative Service and investigations involving the U.S. Navy and Marine
Corps, is a top favourite with South African television audiences.
It was voted America’s favourite television
show in 2011. Having recently completed its tenth season, it is known for its
quality of good performances and scripts.
The fictional characters include the lead, Leroy
Jethro Gibbs played by Mark Harmon ,with Michael Weatherly as the suave Anthony
DiNozzo who is constantly in competition with Ziva David played by Cote de
Pablo. Adding to the well-cast mix is Sean Murray as the computer boffin Timothy
McGee while Pauley Perrette is an utter delight as the whacky Abby Sciuto.
In season seven, NCIS led to a
spin-off series, NCIS: Los Angeles, starring Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool
J heading an equally effective team with the diminutive yet inimitable Linda
Hunt as the boss.
