This
year, KZN is represented in the nominations for the Naledi Awards to be held
tonight (March 17) at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City Casino.
Race, produced by The South African State Theatre in association with The
Playhouse Company, is nominated as Best Production of a Play; Set (Sarah
Roberts); Supporting Actress (Nondumiso Tembe); Supporting Actor (Graham
Hopkins and Hlomla Dandala) and Director (Clare Mortimer) The production
premiered at the Playhouse in Durban.
Venus
in Fur, the KickstArt production directed by Steven
Stead which premiered in Durban at Seabrooke’s Theatre, was judged from its
performances at the Pieter Toerien Theatre, Montecasino. Venus in Fur received nominations for Lighting (Tina le Roux) and Best
Performance in a Play – Female (Janna Ramos-Violante).
The Zulu, which had a season at The Market Theatre, receives nominations for Mbongeni Ngema for Best
performance in a play – Male and Best New South African Script.
