Coming up tonight (Tuesday, March 4) from
the Maritzburg Musicians Club at the Red Door in Pietermaritzburg is John Roff,
with Chris Melling (or Baviaan) showcasing a world of instruments. Also on the
programme will be a bluesy jazzy performance from pianist St John accompanied
by vocalist Tanya.
John Roff (educator, musician and world
music enthusiast) and Chris Melling (well-known musician and passionate
percussionist) will take patrons on a Sound Journey. Expect to see, hear and
even learn about a strange and fascinating variety of musical treats, from
Native American flute to isitolotolo, Bansuri, Kalimba, Chalumeau, Didgeridoo,
the Wave drum and more.
St John & Tanya are an emotive vocal/piano
ensemble with jazz and blues influences. Bringing vocal laidback jazz with
twists to contemporary numbers, St John & Tanya display their belief that
without “heart”…music is lost.
The music starts at 20h00 and entrance is R40.
