The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will present
Maputaland Band led by Alberto Chemane on April 23 at 18h00.
This project is an international/multicultural project of
music composed by Jose Alberto Daniel Chemane. Chemane is a specialist in
African contemporary music and dance, specifically from Mozambique, he holds a
Performance degree in Jazz and Popular music.
The music fuses sounds drawn from African contemporary
music, as well as jazz music. The project is opened at collaborating in
outreach projects with local communities through African music and dance and
Jazz workshops in schools and cultural institutions.

Daniel Chemane (Drums and percussions), Ildo Nandja (bass), Ndumiso Ndlovu
(piano), Sanele Phakathi (keyboard), Lindani Phumlomo (percussions), Mpume
Mbokazi and Nomkhosi Mazibuko (vocals).
The performance will take place on April 23 at the Centre
for Jazz and Popular Music (CJPM) at Level 2, Shepstone Building at UKZN Howard
College Campus. Doors open at 17h30 and music starts at 18h00. Entry R40 (R20 pensioners
& R15 students).
