“Do you think you have what it takes to be a playwright?”
asks the Playhouse Company. “If the answer's "yes", there's a
wonderful opportunity waiting right on your doorstep.”
The Playhouse Company, an agency of the Department of Arts
and Culture, will present a Playwriting Workshop over two weekends: May 17 to 18
and May 24 to 25.
The workshop will be led by Roy Sargent, formerly Professor
of Speech and Drama at Rhodes University and co-founder of The National Arts Festival
in Grahamstown. The 20 delegates selected to participate will be introduced to
the essential principles of professional playwriting.
Those interested should submit their CV to artsadmin@playhousecompany.com
and inform about their interest in South African theatre; their experience as a
creative writer (whether in plays, novels or poetry); and whether they
regularly watch theatre productions.
Applications must reach the Playhouse Company by no later
than 16h00 on, May 2, 2014. Successful candidates will be contacted by May 8, 2014.
The workshop times are:
