Jonathan Roxmouth
begins his tour of KZN at the Schlesinger Theatre at Michaelhouse, before
spending a month in Durban appearing at the Rhumbelow Theatre with his new show, Stage By
Stage. Roxmouth is the king of musical theatre in South
Africa at the moment, and this new show celebrates the genre with his favourite
pick
of numbers from well-known musicals.
KZN - and especially Durban - has held a
special place in Jonathan’s heart since his days with Northcliff High School’s
annual musical at the Playhouse. Here he performed in Guys & Dolls, Oklahoma!, The Mikado, Me and My
Girl and The Pirates of Penzance.
In Stage by Stage, he sings songs from shows
he has done, songs from shows he is doing and songs from shows he hasn’t done
yet. In between, there are backstage stories and anecdotes that will have the
audience chuckling. Highlights include Bring Him Home (Les Misérables), Music of the
Night (The Phantom of the Opera), If I Loved You (Carousel) and This is the
Moment (Jekyll and Hyde), to name a few.
