New Deadline:
August 31, 2014
The 2014 Lovell
Tranyr Art Trophy is open and receiving entries. The extended deadline is
August 31.
Due to the
expansion of the Lovell Gallery annual artist competition across Africa, with
logistics sponsorship from Tranyr, moving it from a South African to a
Pan-African competition, the team have decided to extend the entry phase to
give all artists additional time to participate.
The call for
entries for Tranyr Art Trophy is focused on the entire country, expanding into
Pan-Africa and includes everyone. This year Lovell Gallery would like to find a
hidden treasure - someone South Africa is not expecting, someone who has been
given a gift and someone who would not expect to be put on such a platform.
“Our aim is to form long term relationships
with promising artists to help with developing their ‘collectability’, it is a
layered process,” says gallery owner Tamzin Lovell Miller. “There is a lot of
interest globally in contemporary art from the African continent, and it is
important that we have our own flourishing platforms that offer talented
artists support and recognition.”
Working with a
high-powered international jury of art experts, Lovell Gallery seeks to
identify artists with latent potential. The support that Lovell Tranyr Art
Trophy offers is designed to make a meaningful contribution to an emerging
artist’s career on many levels, including high quality exposure in solo and
group shows, as well as professional career development.
Vivien Kohler, solo
winner of the 2013 competition says; “Winning this competition is a wonderful
validation. It is also a fast forward button on your art career enabling you to
reach your artistic hopes and dreams with expert support from Lovell Gallery
and its staff. It is definitely advantageous being associated with this driven,
dynamic and forward thinking gallery, and the competition is a great way to get
your career going in the right direction.”
