NEW ACEC WEBSITE

Arterial Network’s African Creative Economy Conference (ACEC) is an annual gathering that highlights the role of culture in sustainable development.

Arterial Network recently launched the new ACEC website at www.africacreativeconference.com

Co-hosted by the Association Racines/ Arterial Network Morocco, the 4th edition of the ACEC will take place in Rabat, at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, from November 13 to 15, 2014. The conference has fast become a leading networking platform for artists and practitioners in Africa, and a unique opportunity for various stakeholders to discuss and explore the state of the creative sector within a broader global context.

Peter Rorvik, Secretary General of Arterial Network, states: “The ACEC sets new standards in terms of knowledge-exchange as it unpacks the latest creative economy research and features prominent leaders from Africa’s cultural sectors, across disciplines and fields. The launch of the website www.africacreativeconference.com enables prospective participants to register for this year’s rendezvous in Morocco.”

Created by artist Jepchumba of African Digital Art, the new ACEC website is designed to facilitate the browsing of Arterial Network’s past conferences and makes accessible the presentations of each edition. Pictures, videos, debates and articles display the conference’s diversity as it rotates through a different African region each year, having taken place in Nairobi (2011), Dakar (2012) and Cape Town (2013).

Arterial Network’s 4th African Creative Economy conference is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Morocco, the Doen Foundation, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, l’Institut Français, the British Council, EUNIC Rabat, the Heinrich Böll Foundation and other valued partners.

Arterial Network: Arterial Network is a dynamic, pan-African, civil society network of artists, cultural activists, NGOs, enterprises and institutions engaged in the creative and cultural sectors in Africa. It actively builds and strengthens networks and structures throughout the continent, upholding the value of freedom of creative expression and affirming the role that arts and culture play in contributing to sutainable development. Launched on Gorée Island, Senegal, in March 2007, the Network has its continental secretariat in Cape Town, South Africa, with wide representation and national chapters across Africa.

African Creative Economy Conference: The ACEC is Arterial Network’s flagship event. Gathering artists, practitioners, academics, international stakeholders and policymakers, it is a means to reflect on the state and growth of the African creative economy and its contribution to sustainable development. It is an enabling platform for dialogue, information exchange, networking and the strengthening of partnerships across arts disciplines, sectors and national borders.
