(Christopher Duigan (centre) with Elana & Boris Kerimov)
Christopher Duigan (piano) is joined once again by Russian
virtuosi Boris (cello) and Elena Kerimov (violin) in a concert titled Gypsy Nights taking place in Pietermaritzburg on August 29.
Having created a massive popular following with regular concerts
in KZN several years ago, the three - known as the Kerimov Trio - unite once
again with their spellbinding blend of music. In a selection of classic and
popular music from eastern Europe, Hungary and Russia, much of the music takes
on a traditional 'gypsy' style featuring super-exciting violin playing.
Expect to hear Dark
Eyes, Moscow Nights, Monti's Czardas,
Whistle Hora, Sabre Dance, Papirossi plus music by Tchaikovsky,
Rachmaninoff and more. The combination of the superbly varied repertoire and
enthusiastic performance makes any concert by these three highly skilled
musicians an entertaining experience.
