This is a call out for proposals for the Main Program of the
South African State Theatre which will run from April 1, 2015, to March 31, 2016.
The South African State Theatre is offering South African
theatre practitioners the opportunity to present their productions on any of
our six stages namely Opera, Drama, Arena, Momentum, Rendezvous and the
Intimate theatre. Work is encouraged that is relevant, entertaining, and bold and
cutting edge, inspiring, educational, stimulate debate and can sell tickets.
The State Theatre will fund successful production to the
tune of R200,000,00 (Two hundred thousand Rand). Added to the production fund
the South African State Theatre will offer:
1. The venue for four weeks including move in
2. Access to wardrobe and décor
3. Marketing, advertisement and publicity
4. 15 percent of gross box office income
Individual artists, producers and arts companies are invited
to submit the following information for consideration:
1. Full script or a brief synopsis of the production
2. Motivation of how the production is relevant,
entertaining, cutting edge, inspiring etc.
3. Artistic treatment.
4. Company/individuals information e.g., biographies of the
creative team, contact details and any other publicity material of the
production.
5. Full script if the production exists.
Proposal will be assessed by the South African State Theatre
Artistic Team and then by the Artistic Committee of Council for recommendation
to State Theatre Council.
