The fifth Series concert of Baroque 2000 will be held on September
21 at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery.
A former director of Baroque 2000, London-based Darragh
Morgan is considered one of the most exciting and versatile Irish violinists of
today. He returns to South Africa to lead this concert which offers a vibrant programme.
Works include Johann Sebastian Bach’s Sinfonia from Cantata
42 and his violin concerto in A minor which will feature Darragh Morgan as
soloist. Then there’s Luigi Boccherini - from Op 6, concerti grossi for Cinque Procession of the Military Night Watch in
Madrid; Giuseppe Torelli’s concerto in D Major G1, for trumpet with soloist
Michel Schneuwly and Pietro Castrucci’s Concerto Grosso No XII, Op 3.
The concert will take place at 15h00 on September 21 at the Church
of the Mariannhill Monastery. Tickets R120 at the door. Ample and safe parking is
