STEVE FATAAR AT RED DOOR

(Steve Fataar)

Coming up at the Red Door this Tuesday from the Maritzburg Musicians Club is Steve Fataar, a legend on the South African music scene, with Byron Love opening the evening.

Steve Fataar is no stranger to Pietermaritzburg audiences. He has been making music to hundreds of local music lovers since the early 1960's. A South African music legend he has played on four continents, touring Europe and America, with his band the well-known Flames, alongside the Beach Boys.

He has performed at the Royal Albert Hall with bands like Yes and Jethro Tull, and once in the presence of Princess Margaret of the British Royal Family. He was honoured by the Durban mayor as being a Living Treasure.

These days, Steve prefers to collaborate with musos as he says this is 'soul satisfying'. His recent appearances with Jack Mantis (also at the Red Door) bears testament to this ideal and was well received by the audience.

Catch Steve (with a little help from some friends from Pietermaritzburg) on September 30 at 20h00 at the Red Door. Tickets R40.

The home of the Maritzburg Musicians Club, The Red Door is situated in Quarry Rd, off Victoria Road, in Pietermaritzburg. Car guards on duty. More information from Roger O’Neill on 083 230 6562
