United International Pictures (UIP) announced today that it
will release The Theory of Everything.
Starring Eddie Redmayne in the lead role, this romantic
drama follows the life of world-renowned theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking
while studying at Cambridge University in the 1960s. During this time, Hawking
falls passionately in love with an art student, who later becomes his wife,
Jane Wilde, played by Felicity Jones. Hawking is diagnosed with motor neurone
disease at the tender age of just 21 and as his world opens up, his
relationship with Wilde leads him through personal and scientific challenges,
as well as significant career breakthroughs that would lead to his fame.
Inspired by Jane Wilde’s memoir, Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, the movie is directed
by Man on Wire’s James Marsh and
co-stars two-time Academy Award nominee Emily Watson and David Thewli.
The Theory of
Everything will be released by Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro cinemas nationwide
on February 6, 2015.
