IN CONCERT WITH CHRISTOPHER DUIGAN

Music Revival presents pianist Christopher Duigan in a spectacular programme of piano music on October 17 and 19.

This bold selection of dramatic music includes Harmonies du Soir by Franz Liszt, Scherzo No 2 op 31 by Frederic Chopin, and music by Russian composers Sergei Rachmaninoff and Alexander Scriabin. Central in the programme is Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata Opus 57 Appasionata.

Duigan's recent performance of the Beethoven, one of the composers most intense and dramatic compositions, drew stellar reviews at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. This programme was also presented to a capacity audience at the Hilton Arts Festival and will be repeated at the Marriott Classic Music Festival in Franschhoek in October.

The concerts will take place on October 17 at 19h30 and on October 19 at 11h00 at 35 Montgomery Drive, Pietermaritzburg. Tickets R120. A light meal of soup and crusty breads, a welcome addition to the Friday night event, is on offer from 18h30 - add R30. Bring your own wine to enjoy with the meal. Book a table for four or more or join one of the 'house' tables. The ticket includes a glass of wine on arrival for those not taking part in the meal option.

Montgomery Drive is based between Athlone traffic circle in Howick Road (Peter Brown Drive exit, N3 North) and Town Bush Valley Road / Grey’s Hospital intersection (from the Sanctuary Road exit N3 South).
