The legendary St Petersburg Ballet Theatre returns to
Johannesburg and Cape Town in early 2015, offering three full-length classical
ballets performed with the backing of a full orchestra. Unfortunately, Durban
is not included in the touring schedule.
The company comes to South Africa in May 2015, immediately
prior to its major UK season at the London Coliseum which premiers on August
20. This will mark the company’s 12th UK tour.
In Johannesburg, the globally acclaimed St Petersburg company,
which sold out all of its performances and won rave reviews on its last tour in
2013, returns to perform three classics -- Swan
Lake, Giselle and Don Quixote.
This gives Johannesburg audiences the opportunity to see
other, much-loved ballets – at full-length, and with the sumptuous sets,
orchestra and performances that only a company of such international acclaim
can offer.
It adds Cape Town to the 2015 schedule, making its first
visit to the City in eight years to perform Swan
Lake – the world’s most-loved ballet.
Booking opens today (October 6) at Computicket to cope with the
anticipated demand.
