(Nuria Cabezas Castaño, Petya Koleva,
Roberto Palma & Lidia Sanacori)
Baroque 2000 presents another programme including rarely
performed gems at its next concert which takes place this afternoon (Sunday, November
30) at the Church of the Monastery.
Several instruments take centre stage. In Marcello's Oboe
Concerto the soloist is Nuria Cabezas Castaño (oboe) and in Vivaldi's D minor
Concerto RV565, the solo parts are played by Ralitza Matcheva and Petya Koleva
(violins) and Cecilia di Cecco (cello). The same violinists are joined by Lidia
Sanacori and Roberto Palma for Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins RV549,
(from L'Estro Armonico).
The other works are Alessandro Scarlatti's Symphony no 2 in
D, scored for strings, oboe, and trumpet, and Giacomo Facco's Concerto Grosso
op1 no1.
In more than 150 concerts over the last 16 years this
ensemble has given many great works of the Baroque period their first South
African performances.
The Baroque 2000 concert takes place at 15h00 this afternoon
(Sunday, November 30) at the Church of the Monastery in Mariannhill. Tickets R120
