(Gangs of Ballet)
Award-winning, Durban-based band Gangs of Ballet will perform
at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway on October 31, after a sell-out show at the
venue in February.
This year alone, Gangs of Ballet have won a MTV Africa Music
Awards 2014 for Best Alternative act; and received five South African Music
Awards 2014 for Best Duo/Group, Best Newcomer, Best Rock Album, Best Producer
and Best Engineer.
Gangs of Ballet comprises four musicians and friends - Brad
Klynsmith (vocals / electric guitar), Jonathan Rich (keyboard / synth), Hardus
de Beer (bass guitar) and Josh Klynsmith (drums / vocals). Each accomplished
musicians in their own rights, the band’s members have combined their various
individual tastes and styles to create a sound that is captivatingly fresh.
Their music, which boasts a winning combination of their
vibrant energy and a host of musically intriguing melodies, cannot be pinned
down to any specific genre but rather experiments with an eclectic mix of
alternative, melodic, anthemic, electronic and dance.
Audiences can expect to hear all their popular hits and
material off their album when they perform at The Barnyard on October 31.
