(James Grace)
The brainchild of pianist Christopher Duigan, who decided to
return to South Africa to pursue a career as a concert soloist after completing
his studies in the United Kingdom, Music Revival now presents over 80 concerts
annually.
Music Revival celebrates 17 years of presenting concerts in
KZN with a Grand Soiree, featuring
the KZN Philharmonic String Quartet comprised of leading violinists Joanna
Marie Frankel and Violeta Osorhean, principal violist David Snaith, and cellist
Boris Kerimov. Each member brings elite performance experience to South Africa
from around the world.
The quartet is joined by South Africa’s premier classical
guitarist James Grace in Boccherini's Quintet for Guitar and String
Quartet, and by Steinway virtuoso pianist Christopher Duigan in Brahms’s Quintet
in F minor for String Quartet and Piano Op 34 .
A highlight of the concert will be the exquisite Romanza
from Chopin’s Piano Concerto No 1 as arranged for string quartet and
piano. This substantial programme brings energy, enthusiasm and innovation to
the fore, a trademark of any Music Revival event.
