Marking a first for KwaZulu-Natal, the KwaZulu-Natal
Midlands Experience – International Arts Festival is running at Midmar Dam
until December 21.
The Department of Arts & Culture KZN, in partnership
with Durban Stars, will run this event on an annual basis.
The aim of this project is to promote the Business of the
Art, with a special focus on Arts & Culture. This will be known as the
Global Expo.
The programme kicked off with a concert on December 14
featuring Hugh Masekela, Prime Circle, Bongani Nkwanyana, Afro Soul, Pat Zondi
and Starlight.
The Global Expo will feature exhibitors from all over South
Africa, featuring paintings, fashion, performing arts, food, wine and more.
This will also mark the start of the Festive Season for the KZN Midlands. Coming
up are:
December 18: Church Bands & Gospel Extravaganza
December 19: Youth JAM Festival, Popular Music
December 20: Midlands Melting Pot: Maskandi, Isicathamiya, Choral
& Classical Music; Dance Competition Finals; Popular Music, Kwaito, DJs and
R&B.
The Global Expo runs until December 21. Midmar Dam is
