P.A.R.C (NO AUDITIONS)

(Daisy Spencer & Rory Booth)

Debuting at Seabrooke's Theatre (DHS), The P.A.R.C (no auditions required) is a musical comedy starring Daisy Spencer and Rory Booth who describe the show as follows:

Has anyone ever told you, ”You’re the worst singer I’ve ever heard, please throw your voice box in the bin on your way out”, or, “You look like a deaf duck in pain when you bust a move”, or, “Your acting’s so bad you’d be perfect for the next ‘Sharknado’ movie”?

Have you spent years refusing to believe the masses of industry professionals who have told you that you can’t sing, dance, or act, or, that you suck at all three?

Well then, you might want to visit us at The P.A.R.C, The Performing Arts Rehabilitation Centre. Leave your picnic baskets behind, as your time spent here will be no walk in the park. Through intense self-reflection and therapy, we will help you acknowledge your strengths and accept your weaknesses, making you the best performing artist you can be. Get in gear and come to The P.A.R.C. No auditions required!

Melody (Daisy Spencer), an aspiring musical theatre star, is testimony to the saying ‘fake it to make it’. Realising that being an amazing actress and dancer is not enough to make it in the theatre industry these days, she convinces herself that she is a singer, as the infamous ‘triple threat’ is what directors and producers are after.

After countless rejections, Melody’s mum sends her to The P.A.R.C to receive counselling from Dr Doolilpersad (Rory Booth), who represents the other end of the ‘artists’ curse’ - the triple threat who just can’t seem to catch a break, so he gets a ‘real’ job, to help her come to terms with the fact that she has never, and will never be a singer.

As funny and ridiculous as Melody’s journey to the truth is, The P.A.R.C is both gut-wrenching and heart-warming, as the audience is exposed to the real highs and lows of what being an artist trying to ‘make it’, really entails. With the help of Dr Doolilpersad, Melody realises that sometimes, it’s better to focus on what you’re good at, and make that work for you, rather than trying to be someone or something that you’re not.
