BOBBY VAN JAARSVELD AT BARNYARD

(Bobby van Jaarsveld)

Afrikaans artist and heart-throb Bobby van Jaarsveld will perform Net Vir Jou (just for you) at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway on February 28. This will be his first performance at the theatre, which is fast establishing itself as a popular Afrikaans music venue locally, and he will be performing one family orientated show only with a full band.

Van Jaarsveld (27) started his professional music career at the end of his Grade 11 year at school when he was first offered a recording contract. He has released three albums to date – Duisende Ure (2006) which reached Gold status, Net Vir Jou (2009) which went Double Platinum, and most recently Wat Geld Nie Kan Koop Nie (2012) which also went Double Platinum.

Van Jaarsveld has received numerous accolades for his music. His career also extends to film, with appearances as the male lead role in Liefling – The Movie (2010) and As Jy Sing (2013) which both saw huge success, especially the former which still holds the record as the highest grossing Afrikaans film ever made. After the runaway success of this movie, the producers used the storyline of the movie and turned it into a theatre production titled Liefling. He also played the male lead in this sold-out production, which saw audiences of 38,000. In addition, he played the lead role in Droomkind, Die Storie Van Josef, and was part of a musical production written by Nathaniel.

Bobby was part of the Huisgenoot Musical Extravaganza at the Sun City Superbowl from 2007 to 2011, has appeared in the Afrikaans Is Groot concert from 2012, and performed at the SAMAs in 2010 and 2013.
