The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will present the first
“Twosday” gig for 2015 tomorrow (February 24) at 18h00, featuring EWOK (South Africa)
and Charles Amblard (France).
Guitar and voice, poetry and music, Spoken Word Hip Hop with
Ewok (SA) and Charles Amblard (France) is an opportunity to experience the
essence of the Blues Rocking Hip Hop band Blue Gene www.blue-gene.com. Charles Amblard returns to Durban this year
to begin work on a new album with Ewok.
Both independent international artists have a wealth of
combined experience in staging their craft across genres, sharing the stage
with contemporary dance companies in a variety of musical styles, before coming
together in 2012 as guest artists of the French-SA Seasons.
They have toured SA and France, travelling from Oppikoppi in
2012 to the prestigious Paris Jazz Festival in 2013, consolidating their live
compositions into two E.P.'s and a full length album "These
Meditations" which are available on ITunes.
Join, Ewok and Charles Amblard at UKZN Centre for Jazz and
Popular Music, level 2, Denis Shepstone Building, on February 24 at 18h00.
Entry fee is R50 (R30 pensioners and R15 students).
