LIFETIME CHANNEL WEEKEND ON DSTV

For one weekend only, DStv Premium channel Lifetime (channel 131) will be made available for ‘open time viewing’ to all DStv Extra, Compact, Family and Access subscribers. Lifetime is known for its scripted dramas, original movies and entertainment reality shows aimed at female viewers.

From February 20 to 23, 2015, subscribers will be wowed by a multitude of exciting content – and at no extra cost!

The entertainment will culminate in Whitney, a biographical movie based on the life of iconic singer, Whitney Houston. Angela Basset, famous for her portrayal of Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It, makes her directorial debut in this gripping tale. The story follows the icon’s meteoric rise to stardom and her tumultuous, bitter relationship with boyfriend (singer-songwriter) Bobby Brown. Whitney will premiere on February 22 at 20h00.

Lifetime will also add two new shows to their line-up, as well as other must-see content such as:

Dance Moms 5, Mondays from March 16 at 08h00. These brand new episodes of Dance Moms focus on Abby Lee Miller as she opens up a new dance school in Los Angeles. The new series follows her students as they take part in the fifth dance competition season, which gets off to a rocky start.

Vanderpump Rules on February 16 at 20h55 follows the passionate, volatile and hot-and-bothered-staff at Lisa Vanderpump’s West Hollywood mainstay SUR. Lisa balances her motherly instincts and shrewd business sense to keep control over this wild group of employees as they pursue their dreams and each other while working at her "Sexy, Unique Restaurant." Often seen on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, SUR has been the backdrop for many memorable moments, including the unexpected encounter between Brandi Glanville and Scheana Marie, a female server who famously had an affair with Brandi’s ex-husband.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short, February 22 at 17h00. This is a Lifetime Original Movie, based on the bestseller by Terry McMillan and starring Whoopi Goldberg and Ving Rhames. It tells the tale of a feisty matriarch, Viola Price (Goldberg) who’s determined to fix her fractured family when she learns that an illness will likely kill her.

Preachers Daughters, February 20 at 21h35, is a series following the trials and tribulations of three teenage girls who are pastors’ daughters. The show documents how they deal with daily teenage pressures, compounded by the expectations of living in strict, traditional homes.

I’m having their baby Series 2, Fridays at 20h45 –follows would-be moms as they make the most difficult decision of their lives – whether or not to place their babies up for adoption. This hard hitting, emotional reality series takes viewers through the process of searching for potential adoptive parents as well as the reality and consequences of their agonising decision.
