QUEENS OF THE OPERA

(The Family Players: Greg Baptie Roland Stansell, Derek Pearce, and Allan Quihampton)

Some of the greatest divas over the last 100 years in opera will be on stage as The Family Players send up the great operas in an all-new comedy drag show titled Queens of the Opera - Valentine Is Such A Drag.

The Family Players are Allan Quihampton, Derek Pearce, Greg Baptie and Roland Stansell.

“Joining us on stage is first-timer Graham Goodwin, who will be strutting his stuff in heels, and the voices of two hugely talented singers, Krystle Temmerman and 12-year-old Alaska Hilton, will blow you away as they take you on this musical journey. Expect to hear music from top West End classic operas to modern musicals on Broadway. The drag Queens have opened those closet doors to bring you some classic old drag numbers from the night clubs of yesteryear,” says Stansell. “If you thought Valentine would be a drag, do not miss this Valentine show!”

The show includes numbers like Miss Subway of 1952, All I Ask of You, Any Dream Will do, Cats, and a classic comedy number from Cinderella to name but a few.

Performances take place on February 13 and 14 at 20h00 and on February 15 at 14h00 and 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner.

Tickets R120 (R100 pensioners). Take along food picnic baskets. Braais will be available at the Durban venue only. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Rhumbelow Durban is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road and Rhumbelow Pietermaritzburg is in the Allan Wilson Shellhole in Pietermaritzburg.
