Expanding Horizons is a concert that sees the KZN Youth
Orchestra pairing up with the musical talent of Umhlanga College on March 13.
Umhlanga College
presented two successful evenings of orchestral music last year, combining with
the DCO in March and with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and the Durban Civic Orchestra
in a side by side concert also featuring their choir and string players in
November.
Expanding Horizons is a musical collaboration of the Umhlanga College Music
Department and the KZN Youth Orchestra. Ten students from Umhlanga College are
in the Youth Orchestra and the school boasts an excellent music department
which will present their tour programme in the second half of this concert.
There will be one massed item including the full KZN Youth Orchestra, the
College strings and their choir. This will result in over 200 musicians on the
stage!
Some 100 Umhlanga
College musicians are set to tour to Cape Town the week after the concert and
they will showcase a string ensemble, a drum line , their choir, marimbas and
rock bands. This musical presentation will be a kaleidoscope of music from
classical to pop.
Expanding Horizons takes place on March 13 at 18h00 at Umhlanga
College, Preston Drive, Umhlanga. Tickets
R40 throughout booked through Webtickets at http://www.webtickets.co.za Refreshments will be on sale at the school.
