The Playhouse Company is holding auditions for professional
performers to take part in their upcoming production, For Your Ears Only, to be staged in the Drama Theatre as part of
the company’s festive season programme.
A coloured female is required to play the role of Pearl, a
spunky voice artist in her late 20’s as well as a white male for the role of
Harold, an ageing matinee idol in his mid-50’s.
Set in a radio studio, For
Your Ears Only is a wild and wonderful play-within-a-play that takes audiences
‘behind the scenes’… to the ‘coal-face of creativity’ where a group of actors,
together with a producer and a writer, assemble for the recording of a weekly
radio ‘soap’, tantalisingly entitled The
Soul of Sister Serious. A comedy that crackles with humour and inventiveness,
this acclaimed Paul Slabolepszy offering stars Michael Richard, Louise St.
Claire, Sibusiso Radebe, as well as the playwright himself.
The production will be directed by Ralph Lawson and will
rehearse during November.
