The Alliance Française of Durban in collaboration
with eThekwini Municipality presents the fabulous fourth annual free Human
Rights Day Francofête which takes place under the trees in Sutton Park in
Durban’s Morningside on March 21. The programme offers a strong international line
up of top class musicians.
The Francofête
boasts an impressive line-up of international musical acts. The international line
up is complemented by a mix of local performers, visual artists and puppeteers.
The MC for the day will be Iain Ewok Robinson. There will be a dedicated
children’s area with activities by teachers, storytellers and puppeteers with
special input from Assetej.
There is a feast of special guests - among the highlights on
the programme will be dexterous and passionate Swiss pianist, text sculptor and
arranger of complex melodies, Nicolas Fraissinet. Rumbacdordeon, a duet
collaboration between Congolese rumba maestro and respected Afro-Cuban
guitarist, arranger and composer, Papa Noel, and eclectic French accordionist
Viviane Arnoux.
Sofy Mazandira is Reunionese singer, her band comes from
Reunion Island as well and they perform AFRO Maloya.
