(Natalie Rungan)
Natalie Rungan’s first public show for 2015 will take place
on April 3 at Seabrooke’s Theatre. She will perform alongside Neil Gonsalves
and Bruce Baker.
“I am really excited about the first public show that we are
doing for 2015. It is such an honour for me to be joined on stage by the
phenomenal Neil Gonsalves on piano,” says Rungan. “He is one of the most
creative artists that you will ever hear, whose performance credits include
various national music festivals with numerous South African jazz and Afro-beat
luminaries as well as his own band, Tonk. He has extensive international
touring experience after a four-year stint as part of Johnny Clegg’s band.
”Bruce Baker completes this dynamic trio,” she continues. He
is one of the most versatile drummers in the country, having worked with
numerous artists in the jazz field including Winston Mankunku, Darius Brubeck,
Melanie Scholtz, Melvin Peters, Dr Mike Rossi, Concord Nkabinde, Feya Faku,
Monette Sudler (USA), Dr Willie Hill and Ron McCurdy (USA), as well as the Cape
Town Jazz Orchestra.”
Over the years Bruce has had intense studies on rhythm and
Cajon with USA percussionist Efrain Toro that has expanded into using
percussion in Natalie’s concerts.
The show promises to be a highly popular event as it will feature
the music of Randy Crawford, Ella Fitzgerald, Kurt Elling, Michael Bublé,
Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Natalie Rungan’s own work as well as Neil’s original
songs.
The Natalie Rungan concert takes place on April 3 and 4 at
19h00 at Seabrooke's Theatre, DHS, 255 St Thomas Road, Musgrave. Durban. Tickets
