Just released at
Ster-Kinekor Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban is the new Bollywood film, Tanu Weds Manu: Returns. The film is the
hilarious sequel to Tanu Weds Manu
(2011), and stars Kangana Ranaut as Tanuga ‘Tanu’ Trivedi and R. Madhavan as
Manoj ‘Manu’ Sharma.
It’s been four years since Tanu and Manu’s eventful wedding
and they’re already feeling the “seven-year itch”. Settled in London, their
relationship is now as cold as the London winter. While Tanu expected her
husband to be as flamboyant and star-like as Shahrukh Khan, Manu was seeking a
docile and peaceful wife. The more Manu was regretting his marriage, the more
his friend Pappi (Deepak Dobriyal) was getting excited about his own wedding.
As they travel to India to attend Pappi’s nuptials, Tanu and Manu decide to
give their marriage one last chance.
When she gets to Kanpur, however, Tanu immediately reverts
to her pre-marriage self, and her new neighbour, Chintu (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub),
becomes her partner-in-crime. Visiting her old boyfriends and going on bike
rides with Chintu become a daily occurrence. The situation worsens when Manu,
now in Delhi, starts falling for a Delhi University athletics student, Kusum “Datto”
Sangwan, who looks identical to Tanu (and is also played by Ranaut).
