A Night to Remember
- The Funda Nenja Township Dog Training Initiative (www.fundanenja.co.za) set to benefit
from the support of Christopher Duigan and Friends at a once-off Musical
Extravaganza.
Every Friday afternoon, under the auspices of Funda Nenja,
over a hundred Mpophomeni children and their dogs come together to learn and
have fun. At these sessions, Funda Nenja volunteers instil compassionate dog
training methods, refer needy dogs to the uMngeni SPCA; and through the
intervention of an Auxiliary Social Worker, shared with Ethembeni AIDS
Ministry, children in difficult circumstances are counselled and supported.
Funda Nenja is fortunate to count Christopher Duigan amongst
one of their loyal friends. And on June 26 at the Church of the Ascension in
Hilton, he has invited a number of his own friends to perform free of charge
for Funda Nenja. This promises to be an unforgettable soiree with Bronwen
Forbay (soprano) and the Lonestar Vocal Quartet from Texas, USA; David Salleras
(saxophone) from Barcelona, Spain and Christopher Duigan (piano) who will play
selections from their new CD Indigo;
and Joanna Frankel (violin) Concertmaster of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concert takes place on June 26 at 19h30 at the Church of
the Ascension in Hilton. Tickets R150 including refreshments at interval (with
all proceeds to Funda Nenja) available from the Church of the Ascension on 033
343 3012, Music Revival on 033 342 3051 or sms 083 417 4473.
