Taking place at Crawford College, La Lucia, The Road To Hollywood will be a vibrant
production showcasing the talent of five of the South African team members who
will be competing in the 2015 World Championships of Performing Arts in
Hollywood in July 2015.
Competitors had to qualify to compete by winning at least
one gold medal at the South African Championships of Performing Arts, which was
a ten-day event encompassing dance, drama, singing, musical talent, variety
arts and modelling.
The five competitors performing in The Road To Hollywood include three Crawford College La Lucia
pupils, namely, dancer, Emmitt Cawley (Overall SA Championships of Performing
Arts Grand Champion), dancer Jemma van Breda (Overall winner, Variety Arts) and
singer Bernelee Frick. Also taking part will be plus Westville Boys High
dancer, Keegan Barnes and Westville Girls High dancer, Jenna Moodie. All are gold
medallists.
Ravi R is the show’s compere and other performers include
renowned singer and promoter of young talent, Shelley Maclean.
Singers include Keith Armstrong (Deputy Head, Crawford
College La Lucia); Luke Holder (Head Arts & Culture Westville Boys High); John Coldbeck (Drama teacher Crawford La Lucia);
Enver Moolla (hip hop teacher Crawford La Lucia); Deneska Theron (Crawford La
Lucia); Andrew Sutton (Northwood Boys High - winner of Gateway to Fame);.
Rachel Scrooby (St Mary's); Sanele Sibiya, & Lindo Langa (ex Northwood Boys
High) and Annette Louw (Westville Senior Primary).
Dancers include Donna da Costa (gold medallist, SA Champs
Performing Arts), Beatbreakerz Dance Crew, Dance Barre dance studio, Jingles
& Jazz Studio while Melissa von Loggerenberg will present a drama piece.
Dancer, Emmitt Cawley, who is hoping to repeat his South
African success by becoming overall champion in Hollywood, commented; "I
am really looking forward to the Road to
Hollywood event as it will not only provide a great cause for celebration
on break-up day, but a valuable opportunity to practice the routines that we
will be performing at the World Championships from 6 to 23 July 2015."
The Road To Hollywood
has one performance at Crawford College La Lucia on June 26 at 17h30 for 18h00.
