Business and Arts South Africa has appointed a full-time
Research Officer to its Johannesburg office.
Madeleine Lambert took up the position of Monitoring and
Evaluation and Research Officer mid-June, and will now lead and oversee
research, monitoring and evaluation at BASA.
In addition, she will play a key role in knowledge
management of BASA, at both programmatic and organisational level, in order to
assist with continuous quality improvement, programme development, reporting,
and documenting best practice.
“I'm incredibly excited to join the BASA team, and look
forward to assisting with research to help BASA and its stakeholders learn and
develop,” says Lambert.
Prior to joining BASA, Lambert was involved in arts
management lecturing and curriculum development at the Wits School of Arts
(WSOA). In particular, she co-built course curriculum for the fourth year and
Honours course/research project Directions in Cultural Leadership, which
focuses on the South African arts and culture sector’s needs with regards to
leadership. Lambert was a contract lecturer in arts management at WSOA from
August 2013 until taking up her post at BASA.
Lambert holds an MA in Arts and Culture Management from
Wits, as well as a Musical Theatre ATCL from the Trinity College of London,
amongst several other qualifications.
“Madeleine brings with her a very strong research background
as well as a deep understanding of the contemporary arts management terrain,”
comments BASA CEO, Michelle Constant. “For several years, research has become a
crucial component of BASAs work, both in the broader arts and business
environment but also as a bespoke service for our members. We are very happy to
welcome Madeleine to our team and know that our work will benefit greatly from
her presence.”
