CLASSICAL MASTERPIECES

This weekend, Music Revival presents a classical piano recital by Christopher Duigan at 35 Montgomery Drive, Athlone in Pietermaritzburg and at the Tatham Art Gallery, opposite the Pietermaritzburg City Hall.

Duigan’s performance Classical Masterpieces includes WA Mozart’s popular Piano Sonata in A major, Alla turca, music by Johannes Brahms, and Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata op 31 The Tempest. This sonata was supposedly inspired by Shakespeare's play of the same name, according to Beethoven’s  biographer and secretary Anton Schindler. It is also known as Der Sturm or The Storm.  It is widely acknowledged as one of Beethoven’s great masterpieces.

Performances take place as follows:

July 31 at 19h30: 35 Montgomery Drive, Athlone, Pietermaritzburg. Tickets R100 – a lLight meal is available for an extra R50. For those attending the concert only the ticket fee includes a tasting portion of wine from 19h00. For those enjoying the meal: Book a table for four or more or join one of the ‘house' tables from 18h30. Remember to take your own wine. Meals are suitable for vegetarians.

August 2 at 11h00: Tatham Art Gallery. Tickets R80 Cafe Tatham will be open from 10h00.
