Emmanuel Cathedral will host its Annual Organ Concert featuring guest organist John Foreman.

John Foreman was born in 1948 in Torquay, a seaside holiday resort in the South-West of England. He started having piano lessons at the age of eight at a preparatory school and continued to study piano and organ up to grade 8.

He holds a diploma with the Royal College of Organists. He was also an organist for the Roman Catholic chapel at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth for five years and choirmaster at a number of local churches.

Also featured in the concert will be Durban Church organists, Lulu Sibisi and Siyabonga Gumbi, as well as a vocal ensemble of Negro spirituals.

The concert will take place on July 24 at 19h00 at Emmanuel Cathedral, Durban Central. Admission is free, a retiring collection will be taken to assist with maintenance of the cathedral’s 103 years old pipe organ. 10% will be donated to the Dennis Hurley Centre.
