When popular entertainer Colin Penn finished at The Oyster
Box in January he decided that after a 61 year career it was time to ‘ride off
into the west’ with a saddlebag full of memories which included Disneyland,
Hong Kong, Taiwan, the West End of London and the old mail boats.
Despite many requests for a show the answer was always “NO”.
However the smell of greasepaint got too much for entertainer Colin Penn and
his Pennants, Mike Cameron and John Corlett and after a ‘sabbatical’ of 18 months
they are back in business with a really fun show with the best snippets of
Colin’s 61-year career. Lots of great music, great singing
and great gags.
“Who knows,” said Colin, “it might be another 18 months
before we get the urge to play again and to slap a saddle onto my walker or
hitch the huskies to a wheelchair. I will just enjoy one show at a time.”
Vintage Colin Penn
takes place on July 26 at 14h30 at the Norwegian Hall, St Thomas’ Road. Tickets
R60 booked through Barbara on 031 564 5135.
