Chess and crime don’t seem to belong in the same film, but
it this instance chess is a way of escape from violence and drugs for troubled
inner-city kids.
Former convict Eugene Brown finds life on the outside very
tough, as he does not have many friends and cannot find a decent job because of
his record. Then he finds his purpose in life on a chessboard, alongside a
bunch of kids desperately looking for hope.
