Whoopi Goldberg, Kathy Najimy and Lauryn Hill star in Sister Act 2 which can be seen tomorrow
(August 16) at 20h00 on M-Net Movies Stars DStv Channel 111. The musical comedy
was directed by Bill Duke in 1993.
Deloris van Cartier (Whoopi Goldberg) is at it again. The
Las Vegas actress is cornered by the sisters of a convent school, and persuaded
to pose as a nun again and resume her task as music teacher and choir leader.
This time there is more at stake: the school is on the verge of closure and she
must help to save it.
Lauryn Hill’s performance instantly gained her a huge
following, speeding up her rise to the top of the American music ladder. The
film had another unexpected consequence: it introduced old-time gospel music to
a receptive younger fan base.
