The Barnyard
Theatre at Gateway is appealing its younger audiences when it stages a new
production, All Directions, in
September and October. The shows will take place as matinees on September 12,
19, 24 and 26, as well as October 3 and 10 – the latter making a great school
holiday entertainment option.
After the huge
success of Kidz Rock at the venue in
2013 and 2014, as well as Bieber &
Buddies in 2014, The Barnyard Theatres decided to go in All Directions with a new tribute to the
music of One Direction and friends.
All Directions is primarily a tribute to the music of the
British pop boy band, One Direction, but also on the bill are artists who share
the airwaves, charts and award nominations with the group. Music of other
artists featured include Pharrel Williams, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna,
Avicci, Taylor Swift and many more.
One Direction rose
to fame in 2010 by finishing third in the British televised singing competition
the X Factor. Propelled to international success, One Direction has taken the
world by storm with number one albums and singles throughout the world.
All Directions features a 12-piece cast with Barnyard
musicians, singers (including some young men specially auditioned locally for
the parts) and dancers that pay tribute to the One Direction songs One Thing, Live While We’re Young, Best Song
Ever, Story Of My Life and Steal My
Girl, among others. Also featured in the show are songs from other stars as
performed by One Direction on the X Factor competition, such as Only Girl by Rihanna, So What by Pink, and Kids In America by Kim Wilde.
The theatre opens
at 12h00 and the show starts at 13h30 for these Saturday matinee shows. This
production consists of two 45 minute sets and a 20 minute interval.
