Durban Application
Deadline: September 29, 2015
Applications are now open for the second, year-long Business
and Arts South Africa Education Programme, supported by RMB.
Launched in 2014, the programme is a mix of workshops and
mentorship and aims at helping to ensure the sustainability of registered arts
organisations. “The whole programme worked well for me as an individual,”
comments Sunet Wagner, founder of Minimax Performing Arts and a participant in
the inaugural programme. “But it was also beneficial to all staff who were
brought to a mutual understanding of where we’re coming from and what we’re
implementing in the company.”
Registered arts organisations in Johannesburg, Cape Town and
Durban are invited to apply for the 2015/16 programme, which starts in
September. Arts organisations with training components, as well as those
addressing disability within the arts, are encouraged to apply. BASA will
assess the current position and challenges of organisations falling under the
BASA Dynamic and BASA Established levels to establish which organisations will
benefit most from the intensive programme.
Arts organisations accepted will be part of a 12-month
programme that includes:
- Asset Based Community Development concepts and theory
- An overall strategic planning session
- Marketing strategy and tactics – including the development
of a marketing plan, communications plan and fundraising strategies for
developing business partnerships.
- Operations and HR, Finance and Governance workshops.
The Business and Arts South Africa Education Programme,
supported by RMB, is part of a commitment to developing innovative educational
programmes that seek to ensure the relevance and sustainability of the arts in
society.
