Well-known musician Dan Chiorboli, who is part of the
Awesome Africa festival has announced that “Awesome Africa is proud to be
involved in the hosting of an intimate Durban performance by Russ Barenberg,
one of the hottest and most highly respected flatpicking guitarists and
mandolin players in the world, having played with an array of outrageously fine
musicians that include James Taylor, Allison Krauss, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas,
Charlie Haden, and even Grammy-winning banjo-playing comedian Steve Martin and
dozens more, quite apart from the fact that he is a member of the legendary
Transatlantic Sessions band on the superb BBC series of that name.
The setting for this performance is also unique, a little
piece of beauty and tranquility in Waterfall, just outside of Hillcrest – ideal
to experience Russ’s musical magic. It is truly a privilege to have a musician
of this calibre come to Durban, so please book early as we only have space for
45 people!”
Russ Barenberg will perform at the Waterfall Retreat Centre,
20 Debengeni Road, Waterfall on November 7. Gates open at 16h00 and the show
