89plus is calling for submissions from African artists,
writers, architects, filmmakers, musicians, designers, scientists and
technologists born in or after 1989, to be included in future 89plus projects.
For in-depth interviews with the founders of 89plus, keep an
eye out for the upcoming inaugural edition of ART AFRICA, where Houghton
Kinsman speaks to Hans Ulrich Obrist, Simon Castets and Bogosi Sekhukhuni and
Brendon Bell-Roberts speaks to Hans Ulrich Obrist at the launch of the Brutally
Early Club in Johannesburg!
89plus is a long-term, international, multi-platform
research project co-founded and co-curated by Simon Castets and Hans Ulrich
Obrist, investigating the generation of innovators born in or after 1989.
Without forecasting artistic trends or predicting future creation, 89plus
manifests through panels, books, periodicals, exhibitions and residencies,
bringing together individuals from a generation whose voices are only starting
to be heard, yet which accounts for half of the world’s population.
Submissions are kept on a private research database for
consideration by the project’s co-curators.
