Apart from a huge portfolio of award-winning professional
dance theatre work, Flatfoot Dance Company’s commitment to growing dance in
KwaZulu-Natal over the last 12 years of its professional life, sees the company
offering dance development projects and youth dance development programmes to
over 1,000 KZN based children and youth each year.
These programmes are run in both rural and urban areas in
KZN. Dance Some More 2015 is Flatfoot’s
end of year annual concert and is hosted each year to showcase their dance
training and development.
“We will showcase dancers from our Umlazi, KwaMashu,
Newlands, Waterloo, Umbilo, the Kenneth Garden’s based programme and our newest
programme run in conjunction with William Clark Gardens and Child Welfare, also
with a special performance from LeftFeetFIRST!, our mixed ability/integrated
dance programme run in collaboration with the Open Air School in Durban. The
afternoon of dance ends with two powerful works from both the Flatfoot Training
Company and from Flatfoot’s special training project, the Add Flatfoot Programme,”
explains Flatfoot’s Artistic Director, choreographer Lliane Loots.
Dance Some More 2015 takes
place at the Elizabeth Sneddon
Theatre on October 24 at 14h00 for an afternoon that truly celebrates Durban’s
up and coming talent and an afternoon that truly honours the transformative
power of dance!
