Some of Durban’s
very best homegrown stand-up comedy talent collaborates for Durbz Comedy Jam and what they promise
to be an unforgettable weekend of belly-aching laughter this weekend in the
iZulu Theatre at Sibaya.
The show is a
showcase of established and emerging comedians and features, amongst others,
Neville Pillay, Masood Boomgaard, Neil Green and Jem Atkins in a rip-roaring,
jam-packed lineup.
Neville Pillay is a
veteran on the scene, famous for Lotus Fm skits, while Masood Boomgaard has
performed with the country’s top acts and performed several solo shows. Jem
Atkins and Neil Green are both seasoned performers to have made names for themselves
on the local club scene.
The show also
features East Coast Radio’s Rory Petzer, the Baron S and Mohammad Vawda as well
as a host of other talented newcomers who will be given an opportunity to
announce themselves to the local comedy scene.
"Durban has
its own unique style and flavour of comedy,” says show host Masood Boomgaard. “To
know Durban, you have to have walked it, lived it, breathed it and indeed
tasted it. It's a city with so much diversity and cultural magic that's it hard
not be find yourself immersed in it. As for the people, you can’t help but fall
in love with the people of Durban. This show is about Durbanites telling their
stories.”
Durbz Comedy Jam takes place at Sibaya’s iZulu Theatre on October 30 and 31 at 20h00 and on November
