The Writers' Guild of South Africa will
present a WGSA Character Development Workshop on October 10 in Durban North.
It will cover the following subjects:

to develop a character?

is the character journey?

are the different types of characters?

to develop a 3 dimensional character that is relevant to the story?
Leading the workshop will be well-known scriptwriter and
playwright, Janet van Eeden whose full-length feature film she co-wrote, White Lion, premiered at the Durban
International Film Festival in July 2009 and was released internationally in
February 2010.
She has a Masters in English (Cum Laude) which dealt with
writing a biographical play, and is currently doing her PhD, entitled Beyond the Biopic through UKZN which
includes the writing of a Screenplay. Among her many accolades, she won the
2011 Vodacom Journalist of the Year Award as a Columnist for The Sunday
Independent.
She wrote and produced the short script of A Shot at the Big Time, after raising
funds on Indiegogo.com Shot the Short
was filmed in July 2012, directed by Stephen de Villiers, and premiered at the
Durban International Film Festival in July 2013.
In May, 2014, A Shot
at the Big Time, the short was selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner,
Metrage. Van Eeden travelled to France and Shot
was screened there. She attended the screening and also pitched her new film
project, A Hyena in Petticoats.
The WGSA Character Development Workshop
will take place from 09h30 to 13h00 on October 10 at AFDA

is accessible from Umhlanga Rocks drive at the BP Station which leads to
Highdale Road along Sagewood Way. Alternate access is from the N2 at R102 and
taking the Old North Coast Road (see Total Garage), first right onto Cypress
Drive, first left onto Wistaria Grove where you will then reach Highdale Road
