(Anne Schwankhart,
faces series (one a day for a year), mixed media on paper blockmounted)
lies behind by Anne
Schwankhart is an exhibition that has just opened in artSPACE durban’s Middle
Gallery: This year, Schwankhart decided to paint one face a day, for 365 days
(she is up to just over 320 gone by), and it is keeping her in a constant state
of exploration; showing up daily and experimenting incessantly. Her first solo
exhibition, lies behind comprises a
selection of these faces, as well as some larger work.
Inspired by art at an early age, Schwankhart admired master
painters like Joan Miro, Paul Klee, Pablo Picasso and Hundertwasser as well as
her uncle, Francois Wenger, who was a full-time artist and cartoonist.
lies behind runs until
