It’s been two years in the making but Well Swung, the debut album by Swing City, is out! The band, which
includes Drakensberg Boys Choir alumnus Loyiso Bala, relives the timeless era
of swing music with a bit of a modern twist.
To celebrate this accomplishment, the trio with their seven-piece
jazz band will host a public launch at one of Johannesburg’s favourite live
music venues, Katzy’s Jazz Club on November 7.
The album features jazz and swing standards, originals and
clever remakes of current hits, as well as the best in local talent, including
L’Loyd Cele, ChianoSky, Mariechan and Shoowop Shop.
