Premiere DStv Channel 103 will screen the movie McFarland tomorrow night (December
29) at 19h00.
Directed in 2013 by
Niki Caro, the movie stars double Oscar winner Kevin Costner as a running coach
in a rags-to-riches sports film based on real events. It received
near-universal praise from critics, and its box-office take nearly quadrupled
the budget.
Jim White was fired
from his last job as football coach, and is down in the dumps when he takes up
a job offer from a school in a poor Latino neighbourhood. He soon spots running
talent, and assembles a cross-country running team that he believes will add
purpose to the boys’ lives.
The film also
features Maria Bello and Morgan Saylor. Rating:PG13V
