QUEEN – IT’S A KINDA MAGIC

Fans of the legendary band Queen can expect a spectacular treat this festive season with the internationally acclaimed tribute show, Queen – it’s a Kinda Magic, which is running at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom until January 10.

Recreating Queen’s 1986 World Tour concert, Queen – It’s a Kinda Magic is a not to be missed show that will have fans singing and rocking to timeless hits such as We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions, Fat-Bottomed Girls and many more.

The show is an audio-visual feast with state-of-the-art sound and lighting and authentic costumes. Painstaking attention has been paid to create an experience that is as close to reality as possible for show-goers, from the iconic voice of Mercury, dazzling costumes and the amazing guitar solos of May. So authentic is the show that it attracted the attention and endorsement of Peter Freestone, Freddie Mercury’s personal assistant for 12 years, biographer, neighbour and best friend.

After reviewing the show while in Singapore in 2007, Freestone was duly impressed and contacted promoter John Van Grinsven with his compliments. A friendship ensued and Freestone now tours with Queen – it’s a Kinda Magic when his schedule allows, acting as a production consultant for the show as well as signing autographs and chatting with fans.

With all the energy and flamboyance of Queen’s legendary Freddie Mercury, respected English performer and multi-instrumentalist Giles Taylor reprises the role with spectacular prowess. Taylor’s accomplished career has seen him travel the world over the past 13 years, performing with artists such as Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), Gabrielle, Rick Wakeman, The Moody Blues, Martin Taylor, Richard O'Brien, Sir Jimmy Tarbuck and Dennis Waterman.

Taylor is joined by Australians, Richie Baker as Brian May on guitar and Kyle Thompson as Roger Taylor on drums, with Johannesburg’s own Steven Dennett as John Deacon on bass.

Queen – it’s a Kinda Magic runs in the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom until January 10. Tickets R250 (R150 per child aged between 4 and 15 years) available at Computicket and the Sibaya Box Office.
