(Bheki Mkhwane)
Multi-talented actor, playwright and producer Bheki Mkhwane
will present a concert – and great stories - at 8 Morrison Street, Rivertown.
The concert is inspired by the story of convicted turtle poacher turned
sculptor, Makotikoti Zikhali. Titled Saving
the Turtles through Song it celebrates Makotikoti’s progress in inspiring
awareness of the need to protect our oceans.
The line-up features top Durban performers Madala Kunene and
Lu Dlamini alongside the inimitable Steve Newman Trio from Cape Town.
Apart from enjoying what promises to be a truly special
musical treat, patrons can support the development of the Makotikoti Arts
Project (The MAP) into a powerful catalyst for change, ensuring that future
generations grow up with an awareness of conservation and the need to conserve
wild spaces.
Saving the Turtles
through Song takes place on December 15 from 18h30 to 21h30 at 8 Morrison
Street, Rivertown. Tickets R200 available at Firebird at 8MS. Those who order
items from the evening’s catalogue - Gifts
to The World - get complimentary tickets in recognition of their support
for The MAP.
