In association with Concerts SA, the Steve Newman Trio is
currently presenting a tribute to legendary band Tananas throughout South
Africa.
In 1988, a trio of world-class musicians from South Africa
and Mozambique came together through their improvisational and rhythmic
sensibility, establishing themselves as one of the most original and compelling
groups to have emerged from South Africa at the time.
The Steve Newman trio – Carlo Fabe (drums), Peter Ndlala (bass)
and Steve Newman (guitars) will play a Tananas tribute covering Tananas’
material as well as new pieces. Fabe and Ndlala also perform with Errol Dyers
quartet as well as other Cape luminaries. Newman, of the original Tananas,
remains a prominent feature in the South African music scene.

The Tananas Tribute takes place in Durban on December 11 at
19h30 at The Headroom Studio, 21 Bridlington Road in Seaview.
